Troupe Mission Statement

Under the Artistic Direction of Jannelle Cortes, the Groovefit Dance Company strives to make Middle Eastern dance accessible to modern, Western audiences. The company consists of performers who are diverse in both dance repertoire and cultural background and share a love and appreciation for Middle Eastern artistry. Groovefit company members have traveled to Egypt, Morocco, and Turkey to participate in dance festivals featuring master instructors; deepening their knowledge of the music, dance, and culture. Their performances demonstrate how to genuinely fuse Caribbean, African, and Balletic movement without sacrificing the integrity of the ancient art form. They have been invited to perform at corporate events, weddings and parades, and have headlined three major theatrical productions.
